Did you catch the preview of what Chef Janet was c Did you catch the preview of what Chef Janet was cooking in the kitchen? Did you think it was FOURTEEN little pieces of pasta?

In a record size litter for EBC, Janet gave birth to fourteen beautiful baby bunnies last night. Our lucky mama was surrendered to one of our rockstar foster families after their teenage daughter overheard that Janet’s owners were threatening to dump her outside. We can’t imagine how horrifying it would have been for this sweet girl- who is no more than seven or eight months herself- to birth these babies in the cold all alone. She was so proud to show us her work as soon as she was done!

While we lost three little ones before or shortly after birth, Chef Janet is being an amazing mama to her eleven surviving babies. Her fresh, home-made pasta dishes are Orzo, Spaghetti, Fettucine, Ravioli, Rigatoni, Bucatini, Ditalini, Jumbo Shell, Gnocchi, Tortellini, and Penne. We may not have expected these babies, but we already love them to bits. In a strange way, we are grateful that Janet’s first owners no longer wanted her, because now we get to show Janet and her babies how rabbits really deserve to be loved and cared for.

If you are reading this and are impressed by Chef Janet’s pasta-rolling skills, we could really use your help in one of two ways:

1. Our rescue is BURSTING at the seams and we need foster homes; we have 64 animals in rescue right now! If you can foster a bunny or guinea pig, please apply here: https://everybunnycountsct.org/foster

2. Can’t foster, but have $14 to spare? The cost of veterinary expenses alone for these rabbits will be nearly $2,500. If you are reading this and have an extra $14 in your bank account, please consider donating in honor of Janet’s incredible fourteen babies. Donate here: https://tinyurl.com/everybunnycounts OR @EBCrabbitrescue on PayPal.

Tell us your favorite type of pasta in the comments!

🔔Important Rescue Update🔔 This weekend, we 🔔Important Rescue Update🔔

This weekend, we were fortunate to take 21 rabbits to Northern MA for spays, neuters, and vaccines! We are so grateful to Swift River Veterinary Clinic for providing these services to us, and to the Ellington Community Fund for partial funding of our RHDV2 vaccines.

However, the additional cost of vaccinating our rabbits means we need to increase our adoption fee. For rabbits who have not yet been vaccinated, our adoption fee remains $150. All rabbits who have received one or both doses of the RHDV2 vaccine will have a tax-deductible adoption fee of $225. If a rabbit is adopted before their vaccination is complete, we will provide the date and information for the second inoculation, which is included in the adoption fee.

Thank you for helping us provide excellent care to our rabbits and ensuring their health in the future!

What’s spookier and crueler than Oogie Boogie hi What’s spookier and crueler than Oogie Boogie himself? The recent explosion of dumped rabbits in Connecticut.

The last two weeks have been abhorrent in rabbit rescue, with requests for help with strays daily. It’s not typical of this time of year, and we were hoping for a break between the Easter and Second Easter dumping seasons. But alas, Jack Skellingbun is our fifth stray intake in nine days.

Jack is a baby New Zealand rabbit from New London. One of the client care specialists at Salem Valley Veterinary Clinic had made an effort to trap Jack’s siblings earlier in the month, but they were discovered too late. Jack Skellingbun got lucky yesterday and did not meet the same fate. He is starving, both for food and attention. This skinny little boy will give you a gentle nibble when you stop petting him, and so obviously we’re already obsessed. We know he loves kids and doesn’t mind other animals!

Jack Skellingbun needs a foster home, stat! We pay for 100% of medical care and 95% of supplies, and are available 24/7 for foster support. If you live in Connecticut and can foster Jack, please apply here: https://everybunnycountsct.org/foster

If you can’t foster, PLEASE SHARE this post to help Jack find somewhere safe to flop before he spends Halloween in the rescue! It’s what Sandy Claws would want you to do.
