about us
everybunny counts rabbit rescue
Everybunny Counts has been an official 501(c)(3) nonprofit since 2016, when our former president, Michelle Bosse, took over an independent rescue based in Naugatuck and relocated it to her hometown of Bristol, CT. We operated out of the former J.H. Sessions and Sons clock factory in historic downtown Bristol until winter 2021, when it was sold to be redeveloped into apartments.
From that point, we operated as a network of foster homes until December of 2023, when, thanks to the support of our generous community and a grant from AEFCU, we procured a new facility in Ellington, CT.
In the seven years we have operated as a nonprofit, we have rescued and adopted over 444 rabbits.
our mission
Our mission is to create a world where
every rabbit is safe, happy, and healthy.
Why are Rescues Important?
We are experiencing a rabbit homelessness crisis in the state of Connecticut. A lack of education about rabbit ownership has led to widespread impulse buying, often followed by hasty rehoming and in some cases, illegal outdoor dumping of rabbits.
Contrary to popular belief, domesticated rabbits are barely related to our native wild cottontails and are not equipped to survive outdoors. The average rabbit dumped outside survives less than 48 hours. Those who do survive are critically injured or ill.
Animal shelters often lack the capacity and specialized skills to care for their complex medical needs and place them in proper homes. Because unaltered rabbits can easily and frequently reproduce, they are often euthanized when they are not placed quickly.
At Everybunny Counts, we provide comprehensive medical care to even the sickest of rabbits. We believe that every bunny deserves a chance to live a happy and healthy life and are committed to helping them all.
Why Rabbits?
Rabbits are not only undeniably cute, they are extraordinarily intelligent beings capable of forming deep bonds with other rabbits and humans
Despite being the third most popular pet in the world, rabbits are often treated as livestock
This outlook creates unsafe standards and conditions of living for these sensitive animals
We see the tremendous value that human/rabbit interaction has added to our lives and want to share the gift of rabbit companionship with the world
Through hands-on rescuing of dumped outdoor rabbits, providing education to the general public and advocating for policy changes that affect rabbit rights we are creating a world where all rabbits are safe, happy and healthy

ways you can help bunnies
- Donate. We rely heavily on donations for rabbit food, shelter, and medical bills. Every cent of our donations go straight to caring for our bunnies.
- Foster. We are a foster-based organization, caring for as many as 20+ rabbits at a time throughout central Connecticut. Join our foster network.
- Adopt. We have several rabbits of all different breeds and sizes listed for adoption on Petfinder. All rabbits are fixed, fully vetted, behaviorally assessed, and potty-trained.
- Volunteer. Our staff is comprised of all volunteers. We are always looking for more help. Currently, we could use transportation volunteers. Please apply today!
