Welcome to Bunny Spa Day

Next Event:

October 18, 2025

Location: Ellington, Connecticut (Address provided after booking)

Finding professional bunny grooming can be challenging and expensive. That’s why we created Bunny Spa Day at Everybunny Counts Rabbit Rescue  an affordable, gentle grooming experience designed with your rabbit’s comfort in mind. Our team of caring volunteers provides high-quality services, including nail trims, brushing, and light mat removal.

Why a Bunny Spa Day Matters

Just like us, bunnies feel better when they’re clean, relaxed, and cared for. Regular grooming helps prevent health issues, keeps their coat soft, and strengthens the bond between you and your rabbit.

Furthermore, grooming reduces stress caused by matting or overgrown nails. As a result, your bunny will be healthier, happier, and easier to handle. Whether they’re one of our adoptable rabbits or already part of your family.

What to Expect

During your appointment, our trained volunteers will:

  • Gently trim nails and remove mild matting
  • Brush loose fur to keep the coat smooth
  • Clean scent glands for comfort and hygiene
  • Provide a calm, fear-free handling environment

Our focus is always on kindness, patience, and stress-free care.

Important Details

Appointments: Required — limited spots available.
If your rabbit is matted, requires a shave, or is an Angora/long-haired breed, please book two spa appointments back-to-back to allow enough time for proper grooming and care.

All proceeds from these services directly support our rescue programs, helping fund medical care, supplies, and foster support for rescued rabbits across Connecticut.

Please Note:

Our Bunny Spa Days are run by experienced volunteers, not licensed veterinarians. We do not offer medical or veterinary services.

Ready to Book?

Metztli, our beautiful boy. You deserved so much b Metztli, our beautiful boy. You deserved so much better. You deserved the world. How someone could have ignored the sweetest, gentlest soul as he suffered in pain every day…we will never understand.

We chose to give Metztli the most loving gift we could tonight: peace. Once Metz was sedated for his CT scan and dental filing, I chose to wait at Pieper until he woke up. I very quickly received bad news; Metztli’s imaging showed nearly every tooth in his mouth was broken, and almost all of his jaw was filled with infection. There would be no quality of life, even after surgery. With the help of Dr. Sojka, and loving technicians Jonathan and Tina, we peacefully freed Metztli of his suffering. He crossed the rainbow bridge with more love in that hospital room than he had felt in almost seven years of life.

There are two things I know to be true:
1. It is the highest honor to be a guardian and a shepherd to a soul like Metztli, even as grief stands at my door again.
2. Our rescue will do everything in our power to protect Metzlti’s sister Melangell.

If you would like to donate in Metzlti’s memory and continue to support his sister Melangell’s extensive care needs, please do so via the l¡nk in our b¡o

Binky free, Metz. Until we meet again. 🩷
Melangell & Metztli: 2 Basement Buns Fighting for Melangell & Metztli: 2 Basement Buns Fighting for a 2nd Chance

When we took Melangell, all we knew was she needed help. She’d been alone in a basement for a year with only food & water; her owner wouldn’t touch or clean her. After hearing Mel would be thrown outside for being “too messy,” a local vet tech agreed to take Mel & get her to rescue. Mel came with long nails, ear infections, & caked on feces

Oct 27, Mel was seen for a well exam. She wasn’t eating normally, but we chalked it up to adjustment. Nov 1, her foster told us she was in stasis. Mel went to Bolton Vet that day & got stasis meds. Nov 4, after no improvement, she was admitted to Bolton. Mel presented with possible liver disease, continued stasis, & new diarrhea. We picked her up Nov 5 & had her admitted at Pieper Vet for an abdominal ultrasound. Now, we’re concerned for uterine disease, since she is unspayed

Then, we found out Mel wasn’t alone- she had a brother. Sure enough, Nov 4, he was dropped with the same tech in worse shape than Mel. We named him Metztli, for the moon god with craters made by rabbits. Metztli was a, “get in the car, we’re going to the hospital,” intake. He was also admitted to Pieper. Metztli was covered in his drool. He can’t eat, & as a result, can’t poop. He has a nasty jaw infection; we’re awaiting CT scan results

If they didn’t show fight, we’d let them go. But they tasted love & want more. Mel is fire; her opinions are WELL known. She demands pets & babying. Metztli is all sugar; he showers you in kisses & snuggles

Diagnostics for this duo will cost us $7k; this does NOT include treatment & procedures they’ll need once stabilized. We’re doing our best. Our regular donors have emptied their wallets, but we still need help covering the rest

Above are their bills. You raised $2k for Metztli already, but we have a long way to go. The easiest ways to help are DONATE via the 🔗 in our b!ö & REACT, COMMENT, & SHARE this post. The farther our reach, the better the chance of saving these buns

Thank you. We couldn’t work the miracles we do without your support
🆘 URGENT DONATIONS NEEDED FOR METZTLI EN ROUTE 🆘 URGENT DONATIONS NEEDED FOR METZTLI EN ROUTE TO ER 🆘

This is Metztli. We found out this week that our Melangell- the girl left in a basement for a year- has a brother. And he’s in even worse shape. Their owner surrendered him to the same vet clinic today.

Metztli has an infection in his jaw that is burning to the touch. He cannot eat and is drooling down his entire abdomen. We are concerned about the threat of a deep neck infection and are rushing him to Pieper Memorial @pieperveterinary this evening.

Metztli is 6.5 years old and is the latest victim of medical neglect in a system that fails to protect our most fragile. He deserves a life that his former “owner” refused to provide he and Melangell both. This will be an expensive emergency visit, as he will need to be admitted overnight.

If you can help this poor angel- who reminds us of our lost love Cilantro- please donate via the l!nk in our b!ø

IF YOU CAN’T DONATE, PLEASE SHARE!

We can tell you all about the magic captured at Spa Day photoshoots, but a picture is worth a thousand words. These bunnies speak for themselves 😋

All three featured bunnies are EBC alumni! First is Mashed Potato, one of our Thanksgiving Side Dish babies born into rescue last year. Second is Rosie, who was adopted by one of our long-time volunteers long before we moved to Ellington. And last, but certainly not least is Elphaba, who came and went from our rescue before you could even say “Defying Gravity”!

Stay tuned! Our next Bunny Spa Day will be in January after the start of the New Year
