Board of Directors

Becky

President & CEO

Becky has been part of the Everybunny Counts family since 2016, starting as a volunteer and stepping into the role of Communications and Adoptions Coordinator in 2019. In 2022, she brought her passion and leadership full circle as President of the rescue.

Her love for rabbits began with her incredible therapy bunny Alice, a blind and deaf Holland Lop who inspired Becky’s lifelong dedication to special-needs animals and compassionate care. Since then, she’s made it her mission to advocate for rescue, educate the public on proper rabbit care, and ensure that every bunny gets the chance they deserve.

Becky’s passion for outreach is matched only by her deep empathy for the animals she serves. Whether she’s helping place a bunny in a forever home or advocating for rabbit welfare across Connecticut, she leads with heart, humor, and a fierce commitment to our mission.

Outside of the rescue world, Becky is a band teacher in Mansfield and a foster/volunteer with One More Dog Rescue. She lives in Ellington with her wonderfully wild crew: Eloise the pit mix; three orange cats Oliver, Koa, and Keanu; tuxedo cat Henry; her velveteen lop sanctuary bunny Noel and his pookie and constant companion, Rhiannon; guinea pigs Piggie Smalls and his fabulous ladies, Peppa Pig and Lizzo; and last but not least, our beloved chaos coordinator hamster Carlos.

Kristin

Vice President & CFO

Kristin is a lifelong bunny lover and has been a weekly volunteer for Everybunny Counts Rabbit Rescue since 2017. In 2020, she became our Fundraising Coordinator, in which she organizes many successful events and campaigns throughout the year. Kristin has three bunnies of her own that were adopted from the rescue: Otto, Brutus and Flynn.

When she’s not spending time with the buns, Kristin works as a therapist and enjoys traveling around New England.

Kayleigh

Facility Manager

Kayleigh is a lifelong animal lover. Her rabbit rescue journey began when she found the first of nine rabbits dumped in Vernon, CT. She helped capture and foster many of the remaining rabbits from that case and has been an active part of the rescue since. Kayleigh is always a willing foster home for a neglected or abandoned rabbit and is continuously working on her trapping skills. Additionally, Kayleigh played a significant role in re-opening the rescue location in Ellington, and took on the role of Facility Manager in December 2023.

Outside of her rescue work, Kayleigh is a dispatcher for a fire safety company. She enjoys cooking, crafting, and DIY projects. Kayleigh lives with three rescued rabbits of her own: Fluffy, Button, and Navy. She co-parents her rabbits with her partner Ryan, who is always on hand to help with rescue projects.

Molly

Director of Homing

Molly has been volunteering with us since October 2021. She processes all adoption and foster applications and helps place rabbits into foster and fur-ever homes. Molly is also the creative mind behind our annual calendars for the past two years.

She and her husband are proud animal lovers and currently share their home with four rabbits three of whom are EBC alumni and one very special hamster named Thomas, the brother of our honorary board member, Carlos.

When she’s not helping bunnies find their homes, Molly works full-time in Student Affairs, supporting college students. In her downtime, you’ll find her at the gym or relaxing on the couch binge-watching Netflix.

Emily

Media Manager, Photographer,
Boutique Crafter

Emily joined Everybunny Counts as a volunteer in 2020 and quickly became involved. She is our jack-of-all-trades who maintains our Petfinder listings, conducts photoshoots for fuzzy guests at Spa Days, contributes to social media posts, and creates handmade bunny-themed items for the Bunny Boutique. Her Flemish Giant, Stitch, is an EBC alum who fills Emily’s life with love.

Outside of the rescue, Emily is an avid practitioner of the fiber arts, and can be found with a sewing, knitting, or crochet project in hand. She loves to travel. Regardless of where she is, food brings Emily happiness. She enjoys baking and sharing the fruits of her labors with her husband Chris and her loved ones. In the professional world, Emily is a Neonatal Nurse Practitioner working in the NICU.

Lake Buckner

Lake

Director of Operations & Education

Lake is an outspoken advocate for house rabbit education and adoption. They have been a rabbit parent since 2009 and have adopted, fostered, and volunteered with Everybunny Counts Rescue since 2021.

Lake’s goal is to help the general public understand what intelligent, kind, and affectionate creatures rabbits can be when cared for and treated properly.

Outside of the rescue, they are a yoga and meditation teacher specializing in leading classes for neurodivergent and disabled humans.

Margarita

Administrator

Margarita dove into the world of rabbit rescue in 2023 when a spicy little lionhead named Linus needed a foster and she couldn’t say no. She’s always had a soft spot for stray animals and quickly realized that bunnies were just her kind of chaos.

As the rescue’s Administrator, Margarita wears multiple bun ears managing communications, running the website, and keeping the behind-the-scenes magic from unraveling (with a little help from caffeine and bunny snuggles).

Outside of Everybunny Counts, she works as an Operations Manager and spends her free time baking treats, planning her next adventure, or spoiling her two REW rabbits, Robbie and Hennessy, like the little royalty they are.

Erin McDonnell

Erin

Director of Finance

Erin has loved animals, especially rabbits, her whole life. She had a rabbit as a teen and the pandemic allowed her to bring rabbits back into her life. She fostered (and foster failed) a REW named Domi in April 2020 and began volunteering with Everybunny Counts Rabbit Rescue a few months later.

Erin loves spreadsheets and numbers (she’s an engineer working in Product Management) and is excited to use these skills to help rescue more rabbits.

Nathan

Education and Outreach

Nate is a proud bunny parent and member of our rescue team since 2021. After adopting his first pair of rabbits, his family quickly grew to a now four bunny fluffle.

Nate brings his expertise as a quality engineer to help build our educational programming and provides event support and outreach. He is also one of our bunny grooming team members that you may see helping your buns at an upcoming spa day.

When he’s not petting his bunnies, Nate is likely at a local disc golf course or making music with his band.

Carlos

Chaos Coordinator

Carlos the hamster runs a tight (and slightly unhinged) ship as Everybunny Counts’ self-appointed Chaos Coordinator. Small in size but massive in personality, Carlos thrives on disorder, drama, and suspiciously timed snack heists.

When he’s not masterminding escape attempts or rearranging his kingdom at 3 a.m., he’s busy making executive decisions no one asked for mostly involving snacks, naps, and unsolicited opinions.

Carlos reminds the board that no plan is ever truly safe from a little bit of chaos… and honestly, they’re better for it.

Caitlin

Volunteer Coordinator

Caitlin and her bunny, Flora, have attended every single Spa Day, always ready for the photoshoots! She began volunteering with us when we first opened our Ellington facility and has been a dedicated part of the team ever since. Now serving as our Volunteer Coordinator, Caitlin keeps our many volunteer shifts running smoothly and makes sure all the bunnies get the care they deserve on time and with lots of love!

I’ve been dreading writing this. I wish we weren I’ve been dreading writing this. I wish we weren’t constantly sharing bad news, but we take in rabbits with the greatest need, meaning more loss than anyone should face. In rescue, we remind ourselves that it’s not our shortcomings or lack of effort that cause these lives to end too soon, but those before us who failed these rabbits

Jovie & all of her babies crossed the rainbow bridge since arriving on May 29. On May 31, Jovie blessed us with her sweet litter of 10. They were born early due to the stress Jovie endured before rescue. In the next 4 days, I lost every single one. It didn’t matter what I did. Between myself, Jovie & Miss Piggy, none of us could keep the babies afloat. On June 2nd, I put the last baby safely in the nest after giving him a belly full of formula. I checked 10 minutes later & he was gone

After the loss of her litter, Jovie thrived. She turned from a terrified bun to a social butterfly. She ran to the pen & shoved her nose through the bars to say hi when anyone walked by. She loved treats & knew her name. The dark dirty spots on her coat from being shot with paintballs faded. She gained weight. We scheduled her spay in hopes she’d be adopted soon. After everything Jovie suffered, she deserved forever love

But Sunday, without warning, Jovie’s bright light went out. Her spirit outgrew her broken body & she left. It didn’t make sense then & doesn’t fully make sense now. Jovie deserved the world; the best she got was 3 weeks in rescue. Without doubt, she thought our best was enough. It’s hard to remember when you’re left to pick up the pieces

Animals are suffering everywhere. Rescue workers are suffering everywhere. ALL breeders continue to push animals into an over saturated population to make a few bucks. Jovie’s death was preventable with a spay. But to get that, she needed a responsible owner; seeing as she was dumped outside like trash, her spay came too late. Spaying/neutering your rabbits isn’t an option, a personal choice, or if-you-can-afford-it elective care; it’s the bare minimum. Better yet, support a rescue & pull a rabbit from a shelter for 25% of the cost of a surgery

Rest in peace, Jovie. You’ll always be ours
Our favorite fluffy menace is FOUR today! Noel is Our favorite fluffy menace is FOUR today!

Noel is our long-term sanctuary rabbit, community liaison, and effective mascot for Everybunny Counts. He has been called a “real fork in the outlet kind of kid”, a “disappointment”, and the reason why we can’t have nice things. He routinely makes our President question why she keeps him around, and has been officially written out of her will. However, he absolutely adores people, tolerates tons of handling like a champ, and demonstrates the resilience that comes with someone caring for your deeply. We love him dearly even if we question why. Noel is celebrating his birthday with his usual shananigans: terrorizing his bonded mate Rhiannon and chewing holes in the couch!

If you would like to help celebrate Noel’s 4th birthday, please do so by sending 💸 in multiples of 4 via the 🔗 in the usual spot!

Happy Birthday Noel!
