We know adopting a bunny can raise a lot of questions, here’s what to expect from the process.
By adopting from Everybunny Counts, you’re saving two lives — the bunny you bring home and the one that takes its place at our rescue. Every rabbit in our care is spayed or neutered, fully vetted, behaviorally assessed, and litter-trained. Our foster homes provide loving, social environments, ensuring each bunny is well-adjusted and ready for adoption.
Yes. Our rabbits are adopted only to indoor homes. Outdoor housing exposes bunnies to extreme temperatures, predators, and parasites. Garages or sheds do not qualify as indoor housing unless they are fully insulated, temperature-controlled, and converted into a safe living space.
Many of our rabbits are rescued from local parks, neighborhoods, and public areas across central Connecticut. Some come from families facing difficult circumstances, while others are born in our care after their pregnant mothers were rescued. We always work to provide safety, medical care, and stability for every rabbit we take in.
You can view adoptable bunnies on Petfinder and follow us on Facebook and Instagram for updates on new arrivals.
Every rabbit is unique, but most take around six months to fully settle and feel at home. Patience, routine, and gentle interaction go a long way in helping your new companion adjust.
We currently have a variety of rabbits in our rescue — all ages, breeds, and personalities. Once your adoption application is approved, our team will help you learn more about each bunny and find one that matches your lifestyle and experience level.
No, we do not adopt out baby bunnies because they are too young to be spayed or neutered. However, we do offer a foster-to-adopt program, which may include baby bunnies when available. Many of our rescues arrive pregnant, and their babies are placed in nurturing foster homes until they are old enough for surgery and adoption. If you’re interested in caring for babies and eventually adopting, we welcome your foster-to-adopt application.
Yes! Our Adoption Counselor can help you find the perfect companion for your current rabbit. All bunnies must be spayed or neutered before meeting potential “husbuns” or “bunwives.” Start by completing an adoption application.
Congratulations! Once your application is approved, our team will contact you to schedule an adoption appointment at our Ellington, Connecticut facility. Appointments are held on Saturdays and Sundays. If you find your perfect match, you can complete the adoption the same day.
If you can no longer care for your bunny, please contact Everybunny Counts. We will always take our adopted rabbits back into our care. There is no surrender fee for our rabbits but adoption fee is non-refundable.
Do not abandon your bunny. Domestic rabbits cannot survive outdoors and depend on humans for safety, shelter, and food.
Due to the high volume of inquiries and applications we receive, we are unable to answer questions regarding care of rabbits, housing, behavior, or specific bunnies until your application has been approved. We invite you to research and explore all of the information available on reputable websites. The House Rabbit Society offers a great deal of information.
