Foster Parents Needed
Fostering saves lives. Every time you open your home to a bunny in need, you give them safety, care, and love while we search for their forever home.
Our foster program provides all training, support, and veterinary coverage needed. You simply provide a safe, indoor environment and affection. Fostering is also a great way to experience bunny companionship for the first time.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is fostering?
Fostering means opening your home and heart to a rabbit in need until they find their forever family. Many of our bunnies come from neglect or abandonment situations and are simply looking for safety, patience, and love. You’ll be giving them a true second chance at life.
What’s required of me? Will it cost anything?
Fostering should cost you little to nothing. Everybunny Counts provides all initial supplies except for produce and rugs. We can also reimburse you for hay, food, toys, and litter through Venmo or PayPal.
Do I need prior experience?
Not at all! We’ll teach you everything you need to know about rabbit care. All we ask is that you review our care resources before completing your foster application.
If you’re medically experienced, you can apply as a medical foster to help with oral or subcutaneous medications, wound care, and extended grooming.
Can I foster if I live outside Connecticut?
Unfortunately no, we cannot accept fosters that reside outside Connecticut at this moment.
How long will I need to foster for?
It depends on the health of the bunny and the adopters’ interest. Generally, fosters may stay for a few months to a year.
What if I’m going away on vacation?
If you need vacation coverage or can’t continue fostering, we will always find someone else to take the bun for you.
What if my foster rabbit needs to go to the vet?
Everybunny Counts covers all medical expenses through our partner clinics and donations. We typically use Star Meadow Animal Clinic in Farmington, CT. Fosters are asked to transport their rabbits when possible; if not, a volunteer can help with transport. Each rabbit generally has two appointments — one for intake and one for spay/neuter.
What should I do in the state of an emergency?
Contact us immediately. We’ll provide guidance and help arrange the care your bunny needs.
How much space is required?
We ask that fosters provide a safe 4×5 ft playpen area and bunny-proof the space (especially wires and cords). The goal is to give your foster bunny room to hop, stretch, and play comfortably.
What if I fall in love with my foster?
That’s a foster fail and we love those! You’ll always have first priority if you want to adopt.
What if it’s not a good fit?
If fostering isn’t working out, contact us right away. We’ll handle the transfer and make sure your bunny is cared for.
What if I have other pets or kids?
That’s perfectly fine! Just include everyone in your household on your foster form so we can make the right match.
Can I still help if I can’t foster right now?
Absolutely! You can support Everybunny Counts by volunteering, donating supplies, or sharing our adoptable bunnies online. Every bit of help makes a difference.
